Laws extending pardons and amnesties for corruption and official misconduct were put forward, sparking protests across the country. Representatives of the University of Veliko Turnovo, the Technical University, Sofia, New Bulgarian University and the University of Ruse shared good practices in their work on internationalization of the study process, as well as some problems in applying this principle.

The authoritative international organization, which has a definitive voice in the higher education space in the Danube region was founded in 1983, and the University of Ruse is а long-time member, as well as the only Bulgarian University in it. In the period 2010-2012 the Presidency of this organization was held by the University of Ruse and its then Rector, COR MEM Prof.
The successful projects in the field of national security, implemented by the University under the Framework Programmes of the European Commission, as well as the 18 projects under the Cross-border cooperation Bulgaria-Romania during the two programme periods serve as evidence of the preparedness of our academic community for the new partnership.

For a fifth time in the framework of the project DANUBE:FUTURE, PhD students and post-doctoral students from 11 Danube countries gathered for a Summer School, where they would acquire knowledge and skills in project management and entrepreneurship with the aim to guarantee the sustainable development of the Danube macro region.

During the DRC Conference, the contribution of the University of Ruse was mentioned several times in the presentations in connection with its participation as a key partner in the Danube:Future project, in the frames of the Danube strategy and the organisation and hosting of the International Summer School for sustainable development of the Danube region in September 2018.
